Homepage of truth: the Anti-drugwar by Brian C. Bennett

It’s Not About Legalizing Drugs — It’s About Correcting a Terrible Mistake

Thank you for stopping by. What you’ll find here is the easiest to use and most complete collection of official government data, historic media reporting, and above all else, better context to create a more accurate and complete picture about drug use and its impacts on our society. I use only the best, most accurate and most complete US Government source data available. The claims being made in the drug war debate can only be properly evaluated if the underlying data can be easily found and examined. So here it is: look at it, use it, and tell other people about what you learn.

My intent is to provide a truly encyclopedic presentation and analysis of the drug war that is easy for the average person to really understand. Everything we are being told about the drugs and the drug users is based on fear, being grossly distorted, and is being presented by our government devoid of any truly useful context. Our nation has been at this for 100 years — but it’s a battle against biology that can never actually be “won.” It is a sign of intelligence to learn from experience. To that end, rather than producing another 100 years of the same thing, we clearly need to reconsider our approach to this issue. Indeed, even those once charged with waging the war are saying that we need to stop. They were on the front lines: we need to listen to them. I recommend you read a few books too — the situation is far worse than you may realize.

We can forgive our long dead ancestors for starting this war, but we can in no way forgive those who press for its continuation. Don’t simply believe what you hear and read — look at all of the data yourself. You don’t have to be “pro-drug” to help put an end to the drug war. I hope you’ll spend some time perusing the site so you can see it all for yourself — and tell other people. Learn the truth: it should make you anti-drugwar too!

Respect State Marijuana Laws Act Introduced In Congress

NEW YORK — Republicans and Democrats in Congress are coming together in defense of states’ rights — and marijuana.

Rep. Dana Rohrbacher (R-Calif.) introduced a bipartisan bill on Friday to protect marijuana users and businesses from federal prosecution when they are following state laws. The Respect State Marijuana Laws Act would shield both medical and recreational pot users.

Oregon: DEA Seizes Medical Marijuana Patient Records For Federal Investigation | Hemp News

The fears of some medical marijuana patients that state patient registries could be used against them appear, unfortunately, to have been well-founded. A federal search warrant forced the Oregon Medical Marijuana Program (OMMP) to hand over patient records, according to recently discovered court papers.

As Marijuana Acceptance Grows – The DEA Reports Busted Grow Ops Drop By 60% | Marijuana.com

As marijuana revenues are projected to cultivate strong gains over the coming years, a new report shows marijuana cultivation busts have nosedived by nearly 60%.

Back in the heady days of 2009 2010, when busting marijuana growers was still considered a great federal jobs program, the DEA was responsible for harvesting over 10 million plants [albeit prematurely]. Now, fast-forward to 2012, after Colorado and Washington’s voters fired up their recreational marijuana laws. We see those pesky pot eradication numbers drop to well below 4 million plants pulled by the Drug Enforcement Administration, or their local counterparts.

From that peak of over 10 million, the Drug Enforcement Administration said the number of marijuana plants eradicated dropped to 6,735,511 in 2011 and 3,933,950 in 2012, just a fraction of the 9 million marijuana plants the DEA had hoped to destroy.

DEA officials attribute the decline in part to the state of California, declaring in the agency’s 2014 budget proposal that California’s financial constraints resulted in “the decreased availability of local law enforcement personnel to assist in eradication efforts.” [Ha!]
